Notice and takedown

How to tell us that something published here infringes your rights, and what happens when you do.

What this site republishes

Photographs here come from Wikimedia Commons and are republished under the licence each photographer chose. A venue's own page shows each photograph with its author, its licence and its Wikimedia Commons line. Listing cards elsewhere on the site show the photograph and link to that page, which is where its credit is. Descriptions are either written from public sources or taken from the venue's own website. Opening hours, ticket prices and facilities are read from the venue's own pages.

Sending a notice

Write to support@whatwildlife.com with the subject line Takedown and include:

  1. The address of the page on this site, and enough detail to identify the exact photograph or passage.
  2. What the material is and what right you hold in it.
  3. Why its use here is not permitted — including, if the material is on Wikimedia Commons under a licence, why that licence does not apply.
  4. How to reach you.

We read every notice. Where a claim is clear we act first and ask afterwards: the material comes down, and we reply telling you what was removed. Where it is not clear we will write back before removing anything. Expect a first reply within a few working days.

If we got it wrong

If we removed something of yours and you believe we were wrong, write to the same address and say so. We will put it back if the original claim does not hold up.

If this is about your venue rather than your copyright

Corrections, photograph removals and taking a venue off the site entirely are all handled through managing your listing. You do not need to send a legal notice to get any of them.
