Tierpark Eilenburg and its collection
Tierpark Eilenburg is a zoo in Eilenburg, Germany.
About four hectares are divided into three areas: a tropical house, a section for domestic and pet animals, and a wetland-and-woodland area.
History
The first pens, for red deer, wild boar, beavers and goats, date from 1959, and three years later the town added a stable block and a small service yard. In 1975 a storey was added to the stable, staff rooms were fitted out and the first aquariums and terrariums were bought. The town's sponsor ship MS Eilenburg donated three bonnet macaques, which moved into a purpose-built heated house.
Animals and collection
The stock includes bonnet macaques, cotton-top tamarins, green iguanas, smooth-fronted caimans and green-winged macaws. Through the Euro-Nerz association the park joins the European breeding project for the mink.

Its exhibits include Naturlehrpfad, Affen-Freianlage, Haustierhaus and Tropicana.

Sommerzeit: 9 bis 18.30 Uhr Winterzeit: 9 Uhr bis Einbruch der Dunkelheit, spätestens 17 Uhr Das Tropicana schließt eine Stunde vor Schließung. Einlassschluss ist eine halbe Stunde vor Schließung. Am letzten Sonntag im Oktober beginnt die Winterzeit, am letzten Sonntag im März die Sommerzeit.
