Tiergarten Bernburg — Zoo in Bernburg
Tiergarten Bernburg and its collection
Tiergarten Bernburg, opened in 1909, is a zoo in Bernburg, Germany.
History
The beginnings are traced to 1909, when a pheasant aviary was put up against the yard wall of the forest warden's house in the Krumbholz, the birds a gift from the town of Köthen. Brown bears had by that point been kept at Bernburg castle for half a century. Mute swans and other waterfowl were already being tended on the Röße, close to the later site.
Exhibits
Its exhibits include Afrika, Eurasien, Australien and Amerika.
