Tier- und Freizeitpark Thüle — Zoo in Friesoythe
Tier- und Freizeitpark Thüle and its collection
Tier- und Freizeitpark Thüle is a zoo in Friesoythe, Germany.
Enlargement has brought the park to 17 hectares, within the recreation area of the Thülsfeld reservoir. It shows 156 species and also runs fairground rides and play equipment, and is aimed mainly at families with children.
History
The park traces back to 1965 and to Theodor and Elisabeth Grothaus, who kept deer, pheasants, peafowl and boar as a hobby on their farm. Growing numbers pushed the family to move the animals onto farmland away from the yard.
