Aquarium Wilhelmshaven and its collection
Aquarium Wilhelmshaven is an aquarium in Wilhelmshaven, Germany.
Over 600,000 litres of salt and fresh water hold more than 300 species. It is operated by a limited company and receives no public subsidy.
History
It opened on 11 April 1927 in the Strandhalle, closed from 1939 to 1945 for the war, and reopened at the present site on 17 August 1950 under Konrad Lüders. The city ran it, with scientific advice from the Senckenberg am Meer institute. A prehistoric-sea museum holding 500 aquatic fossils was added in May 2015, and a further permanent show on marine reptiles opened in 2022.

Animals on show include Zweifinger-Faultier, Seehund, Pinguin, Clownfisch and Fahnenbarsch.

Its exhibits include Urzeitmeer-Museum, SAURIER – Giganten der Meere, Haibecken and Tropenhalle.
