Vogelpark Avifauna and its collection

Vogelpark Avifauna, opened in 1950, is a zoo in Alphen aan den Rijn.

The grounds hold planting, ponds, a restaurant and a playground, and the associated hotel stands at their edge.

History

Van den Brink, who owned the estate, laid it out in the grounds of Ten Rhijn; when it opened on 17 May 1950 no bird park existed anywhere else. A toucan used on the posters announcing that opening has remained in the logo, and in those of Van der Valk and of the hotel, which stands at the edge of the grounds.
