ReptielenZOO "SERPO"

ReptielenZOO "SERPO" and its collection

ReptielenZOO "SERPO" is a zoo in Delft.

It holds the largest collection of snakes in the Netherlands, venomous species included, and the largest of crocodiles. Its work covers teaching, taking in unwanted reptiles and captive breeding.

History

Walter Getreuer set it up in 1982 and still directs it. He had helped run the Italian Atrox show, which toured Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Groningen in 1981 and for which he handled publicity and the educational side, and that experience prompted him to mount a display of his own.
