Tierpark Gera — Zoo in Gera

Tierpark Gera and its collection

Tierpark Gera is a zoo in Gera, Germany.

The park sits in the municipal forest at Martinsgrund, just outside the town, on terrain marked by deep gullies cut by erosion. Over 20 hectares hold some 600 animals of about 60 species. The stock is mostly from the northern hemisphere: fallow and red deer, roe, alpine ibex, wisent and Przewalski's horses.

What the venue says

  • multiple interactive petting zoos
  • 800-meter-long miniature park railway (pioneer train)
  • A snack bar is located near the playground area for quick bites and refreshments
  • Parking is available directly at the zoo off Straße des Friedens for a symbolic fee.
  • Because the zoo is built into a hilly city forest with natural slopes and valleys, the pathways can be steep and rugged in places.
