Faunapark Flakkee and its collection

Faunapark Flakkee is a zoo in Nieuwe-Tonge.

The surrounding Duivenwaardsepolder was farmland growing beet, onions and potatoes. Enclosures ring the grounds, and the work is done by volunteers.

History

A bird enthusiast laid the park out in 1995, and visitors were first admitted in 1997. When the founder died in 2005 a foundation was created to stop it closing, and a new owner took over in 2014 intending to make it a full zoo. It has held a zoo licence since 2018.

Animals and collection

Animals on show include Kikker, Aziatische kleinklauwotter, Capybara, Dwerg mangoest and Europese dwergmuis.
