Papiliorama — Wildlife Attraction in Kerzers

Papiliorama and its collection

Papiliorama, opened in 1988, is a butterfly house in Kerzers, Switzerland.

Alongside the butterflies, the collection takes in many animals of the South American rainforest and the Amazon basin. The site has its own stop on the Kerzers–Lyss railway line.

History

It first opened on 5 May 1988 at Marin NE, beside a large Migros centre between the railway station and the motorway exit. A major fire in January 1995 destroyed the building, and donations paid for a rebuild the same year. Cramped space then prompted a move in 2003 to Kerzers, on the far side of the Seeland.

Exhibits

Its exhibits include Nocturama, Jungle Trek, Zoë Zoo, Wild Seeland and Chlitierlizäut.
