Zoo Stralsund

Zoo Stralsund and its collection

Zoo Stralsund is a zoo in Stralsund, Germany.

The park was recognised as a zoological garden in 2005 but kept its older name. Its grounds contain an original farmer-burgher house, moved there from elsewhere, and a rebuilt mill.

Animals and collection

A large herd of white donkeys is kept, which is unusual for Germany. Animals acquired between 1962 and 1971 included fallow deer, pot-bellied pigs, Siamese cats, a silver fox and a brown bear, then Zackel sheep, golden jackals and dingoes, a lion on loan with sheep and wisent, watusi cattle, yaks, water buffalo, steppe cattle, moorland sheep and macaques, and finally Jämtland goats, coatis and Hungarian mangalitsa pigs.

Exhibits

Its exhibits include Mühlenpfad and Streichelgehege.
