Tierpark Göppingen is a zoo in Göppingen, Germany.

History

The park grew out of an aquarium society founded in 1892, which built a clubhouse on the later zoo ground early in the twentieth century. The first petting pens were set up in 1952, stocked at the outset with animals taken on loan from pet dealers, and monkeys were among the earliest residents. The operating association was entered in the register of associations in 1975 and the park was renamed in December 2013; income comes only from membership dues, admission and donations.

Animals and collection

The core stock numbers over 150 individuals and is built on old European domestic breeds of sheep, goats and donkeys together with South American llamas. Exotic species on show include dromedaries, flamingos, small carnivores, crowned cranes and banded mongooses.
