GaiaZOO and its collection
GaiaZOO is a zoo in Kerkrade.
The zoo opened in 2005 under the name GaiaPark with about 80 species, and now holds roughly 100.
Animals and collection
Bush dogs, wolverines and bat-eared foxes are kept nowhere else in the Netherlands. Three lion cubs born in 2014 were named after the Dutch king's daughters and were then killed and eaten by the adult lions on King's Day.
Exhibits
Its exhibits include Taiga, Savanna, Rainforest, Limburg and KinderBoerderij.
Things to do
Things to do include diervoedering, Rondleiding door een GaiaGids, touwbruggen en klimtorens and KinderBoerderij (dieren knuffelen en aaien).
