Tierpark Fauna

Tierpark Fauna and its collection

Tierpark Fauna is a zoo in Solingen, Germany.

The park states that it keeps about 300 animals of 80 species. Opened as a park for local fauna, it has since mixed native and exotic stock. It lies northeast of the centre of Gräfrath, on Lützowstraße.

History

Wilhelm Eisenbart, born in Wuppertal in 1901 and dead in 1970, moved to Gräfrath in 1932 and joined the ornamental fowl club in that year. As the park was built, the club renamed itself a nature and bird protection society. The Second World War brought the park's closure in 1942.

Animals and collection

The birds include pheasants, eagle owls, songbirds, parrots, parakeets and waterfowl. A monkey house holds marmosets, and a terrarium house snakes, lizards, monitors and tortoises.
