Tier- und Kulturpark Bischofswerda is a zoo in Bischofswerda, Germany.

At roughly 0.75 hectares the park ranks among the smallest zoos in Germany. It holds about 200 animals of 60 species, brown bears among them, along with domestic breeds and native wildlife such as snowy owls and lynx. A giant sequoia planted in 1981 is a botanical feature.

History

Construction began in 1957 on the initiative of Eduard Candrian, Fritz Grafe and the later director Siegfried Nützsche, the first task being to convert an existing solid building into an aquarium house. It opened in August 1957 as a small-animal park. The town assumed ownership in 1961 from the national reconstruction scheme.
