The Reptile Zoo and its collection
The Reptile Zoo is a zoo in Fountain Valley, United States.
Fish, amphibians and arachnids are shown alongside the reptiles, and the site includes the Prehistoric Pets shop, which sells goods for reptile keepers. Attendance has passed a million since it started.
History
It began in 1988 as Pet Country, selling both ordinary and exotic pets. Rising visitor numbers pushed the emphasis towards teaching about exotic reptiles, and Pet Country closed in 1992 when Prehistoric Pets opened. Jurassic Parties, an interactive events arm, was launched in 1995.
Animals and collection
Twinkie, recognised by Guinness as the largest captive albino snake, died in 2014 at the age of 11. The snake measured 23 feet, weighed 370 pounds and had appeared on Conan O'Brien's Tonight Show.
