Ripley's Aquarium of Canada — Aquarium in Toronto

Ripley's Aquarium of Canada and its collection

Ripley's Aquarium of Canada is an aquarium in Toronto, Canada.

It contains 5.7 million litres of water, split into ten named galleries, with over 20,000 specimens from more than 450 species. It stands just southeast of the CN Tower and is one of three sites Ripley Entertainment owns and runs.

History

An earlier scheme, drawn up in 2004, would have put the aquarium at Niagara Falls beside the site that later became Great Wolf Lodge, but it collapsed. Construction in Toronto began in August 2011 at a cost approaching CA$130 million. The public opening came in October 2013.
