Palo Alto Junior Museum & Zoo and its collection
Palo Alto Junior Museum & Zoo, opened in 1934, is a zoo in Palo Alto, United States.
It was started in 1934 by Josephine O'Hara in a primary school basement. Roughly 200 species are kept, largely local fauna such as bobcat, raccoon, hedgehog, duck, bat and snake, and the interactive science display is swapped out every few years. Science classes are taught to over 14,000 local pupils a year.
Animals and collection
Animals on show include African Grey Parrot, African Sacred Ibis, African Spoonbill, African Spurred Tortoise and American Flamingo.
Exhibits
Its exhibits include Voyage Solar System Model, The Rainbow Tunnel, California Dinosaur Garden and Bruno the Snapping Turtle Exhibit.
