Happy Hollow Park & Zoo, opened in 1961, is a zoo in San Jose, United States.
History
Planning began in 1956 under two Jaycees, Ernie Renzel and Alden Campen, who purchased the first 7.5 acres for the city for $300,000, at the northern edge of what is now Kelley Park. The site was shut through 2008 for a large rebuild and reopened on 20 March 2010.
Animals and collection
The collection includes a jaguar, three species of lemur, meerkats, an alligator and parma wallabies. Chacoan peccary, capybaras, a giant anteater and red pandas are also kept.
Exhibits
A contact area allows youngsters to touch and feed goats, sheep and miniature cattle.
