Folly Farm and its collection

Folly Farm, opened in 1988, is a zoo in Kilgetty, United Kingdom.

The park now mixes a vintage indoor funfair, more than 200 zoo species and big play areas inside and out.

History

Passing families would stop to watch the cattle, which prompted Glyndŵr Williams, a farmer, and his wife Anne to move into tourism; the dairy farm was adapted for visitors in 1988, with milking put on show. Additions since have included Penguin Coast in 2013, the Pride of Pembrokeshire lion reserve in 2014, which won a BIAZA silver award for enclosure design the following year, and Kifaru Reserve in 2015 for breeding eastern black rhino. Asian Adventure opened in July 2019, bringing dholes, white-naped cranes, pelicans and the red pandas Lotus and Baika.

Exhibits

The Pride of Pembrokeshire lion reserve opened in 2014 and took a BIAZA silver award for enclosure design in 2015, while Penguin Coast, a saltwater penguin enclosure, had been added in 2013. Kifaru Reserve opened in 2015 for eastern black rhino breeding, the park belonging to 14 European endangered species programmes, and Asian Adventure followed in July 2019 with dholes, white-naped cranes, pelicans and the red pandas Lotus and Baika. The covered Jolly Barn holds horses, goats, sheep, pigs and petting stock.
