Cornish Seal Sanctuary — Zoo in Gweek

Cornish Seal Sanctuary and its collection

Cornish Seal Sanctuary, opened in 1958, is a zoo in Hayle, United Kingdom.

The sanctuary lies beside the Helford River, next to the village of Gweek.

History

Its origins go back to 1958, when the founder, Ken Jones, found a stranded seal pup on a beach near his home at St Agnes. By 1975 the single pool at St Agnes had become too small, and a site at Gweek was chosen.
