BIOPARC FUENGIROLA and its collection

BIOPARC FUENGIROLA is a zoo in Fuengirola, Spain.

The zoo opened in 1978 and was rebuilt in 1999, then dropped its older name, Zoo de Fuengirola, for the Bioparc branding in 2010.

Animals and collection

Animals on show include lémures, tigre de Sumatra and flamenco.

Exhibits

A Madagascar zone holds ring-tailed and other lemurs, a Congo valley area holds gorillas, chimpanzees, serval and colobus, and a Sumatran tiger is kept in a temple-themed Southeast Asian setting. An Indo-Pacific habitat opened in 2014 bringing 15 species not previously held, and the Komodo dragon is presented as the world's biggest venomous lizard. An amphibian display includes golden and green mantellas, and a wetland section holds Nile crocodile, greater and lesser flamingos and African spoonbill.
