Tierpark Hamm is a zoo in Hamm, Germany.

History

The bookbinder Fritz Vogel founded the animal and plant garden association in 1933, and the park opened the following year in a park provided by the city, drawing around 100,000 visitors a year. The first stock was pheasants, guinea pigs and budgerigars, later joined by fallow deer, roe, foxes, badgers and a boar.

Animals and collection

In 2025 the park keeps about 400 animals of 60 species. An elderly pair of Bornean gibbons, Franz and Franziska, reached Europe from Singapore Zoo in the 1970s and arrived here after several stops; the species is shown in very few European zoos, and the Madagascan fossas kept here are likewise seldom seen in German collections.
