Rákosův pavilon
Rákosův pavilon and its collection
Rákosův pavilon is a zoo in Praha, Czech Republic.
The pavilion houses a large collection of exotic birds, mostly parrots, and is named for the parrot breeder Stanislav Rákos (1931-2012), who gave money towards the build. It opened in September 2019, at that point one of 13 pavilions on the site open to visitors. Plans had called for about 30 bird species, but 38 were on show at opening, 27 of them within this building.
Animals and collection
Animals on show include Ara Learův, Kakadu palmový, Ara hyacintový, Nestor kea and Tricha orlí.
Exhibits
There are ten displays, eight of them multi-species biotopes and two conventional; six are indoors and two can be walked through. Sixteen parrot species are kept. Nineteen of the taxa are held in no other Czech zoo, and four of those in no other European zoo either.
