Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, opened in 1976, is a zoo in Hythe, United Kingdom.

John Aspinall bought the Edwardian mansion estate in 1973, the purchase intended to relieve crowding at nearby Howletts. The park opened to visitors in 1976.

Animals and collection

It keeps the largest breeding herd of black rhino in Britain, and is known for encouraging close bonds between keepers and the animals in their care.

Exhibits

A safari trail carries visitors in adapted vehicles past giraffe, zebra, antelope and wildebeest. The gorilla building is billed as the largest anywhere and houses a breeding troop. A small Discovery Zone is given over to smaller species such as meerkats, pygmy marmosets and hissing cockroaches.
