Parc animalier de Sainte-Croix and its collection

Parc animalier de Sainte-Croix, opened in 1980, is a zoo in Rhodes, France.

Some 130 hectares hold over 1,500 animals of 130 species along four trails. European wildlife is the main focus, with deer, bears, lynx, bison, several wolf packs and vultures, alongside lemurs, red pandas and red-cheeked gibbons.

History

Gérald Singer, then working the land as a farmer, bought the estate in October 1967, and his wife Liliane backed the plan to keep animals there. The park opened to visitors on 10 June 1980. Canadian wolves (Canis lupus occidentalis) arrived in 2013.

Animals and collection

Animals on show include ours noir, gloutons, lynx, Pygargues and sangliers.

Exhibits

Its exhibits include Les grands espaces, Les étendues sauvages, La Ferme des Vents, Le Nouveau Monde and Histoires de loups.

Things to do

Things to do include Safari-train, Keeper for a Day, Nocturnal call of the wolf, The deer rut and Winter lights.
