Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo is a zoo in Monroe, United States.

History

Its first name was Bernstein Park Zoo, honouring Arnold Bernstein, who served as mayor from 1919 until he died in 1937. A long stretch of its development took place under Mayor W. Jack Howard, for whom it formed one element of a municipal improvement drive that also produced a new city hall and a civic centre.

Exhibits

There is a reptile house, and roughly 500 animals are kept, among them addax, hippopotamus, spotted hyena, western hoolock gibbon and Burchell's zebra.
