Hattiesburg Zoo
Hattiesburg Zoo and its collection
Hattiesburg Zoo, opened in 1950, is a zoo in Hattiesburg, United States.
The zoo takes up about 12 acres of a 40-acre park and is run by the Hattiesburg Convention Commission, whose executive director in 2019 was Rick Taylor.
History
John Kamper handed 40 acres in 1902 to a Confederacy daughters' organisation, which passed the land on to the city in 1908 for public parkland. The zoo opened there in 1950 and marked 75 years with events across 2025.
Exhibits
An African section pairs hornbills with porcupines, has fennec foxes, and includes a veldt with zebras, bongos, ostriches and crowned cranes. A walkthrough opened in 2018 without barriers puts visitors among emus, kunekune pigs and Bennett's wallabies.
