Deep Sea World
Deep Sea World and its collection
Deep Sea World, opened in 1993, is a zoo in Inverkeithing, United Kingdom.
The aquarium is owned by the Spanish company Aspro Ocio Group, which also operates Blue Planet Aquarium and other European sites. Large sand tiger sharks are held, along with other shark species.
History
It opened on 9 April 1993 in the abandoned Battery Quarry beneath the Forth Rail Bridge.
Exhibits
A 112 m acrylic underwater tunnel, among the longest anywhere, is the headline feature; its 6.5 cm acrylic curve shrinks the apparent size of the animals by about a third. The tank around it holds a million imperial gallons of sea water drawn from the River Forth.
