Is Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo Worth It?
Yes, and it's cheap by Bermuda standards: adult admission to the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo is $10. It's been running since 1926, and it packs a 200-species aquarium, a 300-animal zoo and a natural history museum onto one small site in Flatts Village. The one thing to know before you go: its biggest tank was mid-restoration as of early 2026.
What not to miss
Featured location Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo Flatts Village, Bermuda AZA It combines an aquarium, a natural history museum and a zoo, concentrating on the species of oceanic islands. Animals on show include harbour seals, Galapagos tortoises and Green Sea Turtle.BAMZ has been accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums since 1994, and it renewed that accreditation again in March 2025, when 30 of 32 applicant institutions were approved. The aquarium alone shows more than 200 species of fish and marine invertebrates, and the zoo displays over 300 birds, reptiles and mammals across Caribbean, Australasia and Madagascar exhibits, each with a free-flight immersion area.
The Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo (BAMZ) and Bermuda Zoological Society (BZS) share a unique partnership dedicated to inspiring appreciation and care for Bermuda's natural environments.
The usual centrepiece is the 140,000-gallon North Rock Exhibit, built to show live corals and large predatory fish, including sharks and a black grouper. BAMZ said in January 2026 it expected the restoration to finish by around April. Outside the main tank, the harbour seals and the rescued marine turtles kept in outdoor exhibits at the entrance are consistently the most popular stops.
Getting there
BAMZ is at 40 North Shore Road in Flatts Village. Bermuda's Shorelink buses 10 and 11 both stop there, in the 3-zone fare band: $3.50 in cash each way, or from $19 for a one-day pass covering every zone on both buses and ferries if you're island-hopping for longer.
When you arrive
The gift shop and the on-site cafe, run by SIMPLE, both keep the same hours: daily, 10am to 4pm, with the shop closed only on Christmas Day. The cafe does grab-and-go hot breakfast, salads, sandwiches, snacks and baked goods. Inside, BAMZ runs self-directed, themed scavenger hunts through the aquarium, museum and zoo with printable answer keys, available whenever you visit. If you're vision-impaired, call the front desk at least 24 hours ahead to book a guide.
Tickets and saving money
General admission is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors 65 and over, $5 for children aged 5-12, and free for children 4 and under, as of September 2026. If you'll be back, or you're bringing family, a one-year individual Bermuda Zoological Society membership costs $45 and includes free admission, while the entry-level Killifish family membership is $75.
Best time to visit
BAMZ itself is open every day of the year except Christmas Day, from 9am, with last admission at 4pm and the facility closing at 5pm, so there's no single best season for the buildings and zoo grounds. The boat trips are the exception: the North Rock Snorkel Adventure only runs June to September, and the Endurance's six-hour Whale Watching trip only runs March and April.
Other wildlife nearby
Bermuda's national bird, the cahow (Bermuda petrel), is the second rarest seabird on Earth: thought extinct for 300 years until its rediscovery in 1951, it's now listed as Endangered, with a translocated breeding colony on Nonsuch Island, a short boat ride from Flatts. BAMZ's own Cahow Watching Pelagic Boat Trip is the most direct way to see one without a specialist tour, and having met the aquarium's seals and turtles first gives the trip some context before you're scanning the horizon for something far more elusive.

Take bus 10 or 11 from Hamilton or elsewhere on the island; BAMZ is a stop on both routes, in the 3-zone fare band at $3.50 in cash. A multi-day Shorelink pass (from $19 for one day) covers the same buses and the ferries if you're combining the trip with other stops.
