Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo
Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo and its collection
Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo, opened in 1926, is a mixed in Flatts Village, Bermuda.
It combines an aquarium, a natural history museum and a zoo, concentrating on the species of oceanic islands.
History
The island government set the site up in 1926 to boost the growing tourist trade, and funded it alone until 1978, when the Bermuda Zoological Society was formed to support it. By 2009 the society's membership took in 15 per cent of island residents, along with corporate sponsors. Running costs are met by government, while the society funds development, education, research and events.

Animals on show include harbour seals, Galapagos tortoises and Green Sea Turtle.
Exhibits
The aquarium shows over 200 species of fish and invertebrates, and its biggest tank, of 140,000 gallons, recreates North Rock.
