Shymkent State Zoological Park and its collection
Shymkent Zoo, opened in 1980, is a zoo in Шымкент, Kazakhstan.
Opened in 1980, the zoo covers 54 hectares in all, 34 of them display area, and held 1,600 animals at the start of 2013. Its six sections held 185 species in 2012, twenty of which are listed in the national Red Book. A quarter of the feed needed is grown on the zoo's own 30 hectares, and the gates are open daily from 9am to 6pm.
