Chiang Mai Night Safari and its collection
Chiang Mai Night Safari, opened in 2006, is a zoo in หางดง, Thailand.
The site is state-owned, run under the Zoological Park Organization, and lies west of the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 site.
History
It was conceived by Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who wanted a nocturnal zoo along the lines of Singapore's, and the then provincial governor, Kosin Katethong, was asked to find a suitable construction site. It first opened on 18 November 2005, with the official opening on 6 February 2006. It originally sat under the sustainable tourism administration body DASTA and the Pinganakorn Development Agency.
