Carmel Hai-Bar Nature Reserve

Carmel Hai-Bar Nature Reserve and its collection

Carmel Hai-Bar Nature Reserve, opened in 1973, is a zoo in חיפה, Israel.

The reserve is the Mediterranean-climate counterpart to the Yotvata reserve in the Arava, and spans roughly 6,000 dunams. Fencing of the reserve in the Nahal Galim basin began in 1973. It has released Persian fallow deer and roe deer, both of which had disappeared from the country, and is headed by the zoologist Ben Rosenberg.
