Africa Alive Zoological Reserve is a zoo in Lowestoft, United Kingdom.

A zoological collection given over to African species, on a site at Kessingland just off the A12, two miles from Lowestoft.

History

Banham Zoo bought the site in 1991 so that animals it had bred could be housed without long transport, and the African focus was settled on at the outset. The rebranding took effect on 21 March 2006.

Animals and collection

The primates include several kinds of lemur along with drill, chimpanzee and king colobus. Larger mammals include Somali wild ass, white rhino, cheetah and reticulated giraffe.

• Manual wheelchairs and motorized mobility scooters can be hired (advance booking or checking availability at the entrance is advised).
• Only registered assistance dogs are permitted inside the reserve.
