Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger Safari and its collection
Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger Safari, opened in 1988, is a zoo in Shivamogga Sub-District, Kanpur division.
It opened in 1988 as the state's second safari park, following Bannerghatta near Bangalore. The two cats named in its title are neither the only animals nor the only big cats present.
Animals and collection
Animals on show include Black Panther, leopard, Lion, Black Buck and Tiger.
Exhibits
Lions, tigers and leopards occupy separate enclosures, seen from a guided vehicle. More than eleven bird species were displayed in cages.
What the venue says
- There is an on-site canteen/cafeteria inside the park premises that serves basic snacks, packaged refreshments, and light meals.
- Dedicated vehicle parking is available near the entrance gate with nominal fees
- Paved walking paths exist around the mini-zoo and interpretation center, and wheelchairs are generally available upon request at the entrance.
- Because the main safari requires boarding a high-step vehicle and walking paths can feature uneven terrain, visitors with severe mobility limitations should check with gate staff regarding assistance.
