Red River Zoo and its collection

Red River Zoo, opened in 1999, is a zoo in Fargo, United States.

The collection runs to over 600 animals from 89 species, red pandas among them. The zoo has held AZA accreditation since 2006.

History

The first 8 acres opened in the spring of 1999, the farm buildings already standing on the site being either refurbished for zoo use or torn down as unsafe. The flat original land carried just seven trees, and hundreds more trees and shrubs were planted, along with five dug ponds. A carousel built in 1928 was restored in 1995 and given to the zoo by the Diederich family.

Animals and collection

A pack of six gray wolves is kept, and a trapper's cabin with two large windows allows them to be watched from indoors.
