Seaside Aquarium and its collection

Seaside Aquarium, opened in 1937, is a zoo in Seaside, United States.

History

The building went up in the 1920s as a natatorium, an indoor saltwater bathing hall. Seawater was piped in from the ocean and heated, and the pipe can still be seen at the tide line. Balconies allowed onlookers to watch the swimmers below.

Animals and collection

Animals on show include Harbor Seals, Anemones, sea stars, rockfish and Sea Turtles.

Parking is available nearby along the local street network and public lots in downtown Seaside.
The facility provides step-free paths from nearby parking areas and an obstacle-free layout designed with easy wheelchair viewing.
