Roosevelt Park Zoo and its collection
Roosevelt Park Zoo, opened in 1920, is a zoo in Minot, United States.
It is the oldest zoo in the state. As of 2024 it held 135 animals across 68 species, and 115,805 people visited in 2021.
History
The Minot park district founded the zoo at a meeting on 9 April, and it opened in 1914 as Riverside Park Zoo. Its opening stock was 24 squirrels, a dozen red and a dozen grey, and a lone male bison in 1921 was the first large animal. Everything was then kept in a single zoological building, which now serves as the aviary.
