Orana Wildlife Park and its collection

Orana Wildlife Trust, opened in 1976, is a wildlife park in Christchurch, New Zealand.

It opened in 1976 and is owned and run by a registered charitable trust.

Animals and collection

Animals on show include giraffe, Southern White Rhino, kiwi and lions.

Exhibits

Exhibits include a Great Ape Centre and a farmyard, and a habitat for the Maud Island frog, a nationally endangered New Zealand species, is due for completion. Paid encounters cover giraffe hand-feeding, kiwi and native species encounters, rhino meets, Tasmanian devils and a tiger feed.

Conservation and approach

The trust's stated aims cover recreation, the conservation of native and exotic endangered wildlife, visitor education and support for research. Its memberships bring it into managed breeding programmes for the species it keeps.
