Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden and its collection

Oklahoma City Zoological Park, opened in 1902, is a zoo in Oklahoma City, United States.

The zoo spans 130 acres and holds over 2,000 animals from more than 500 species. It draws upwards of a million people a year and closes only on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Animals and collection

The elephant Judy spent close to five decades at the zoo. The Asian elephant Malee, 300 pounds at birth on 15 April 2011, was born to the resident Asha and sired by Sneezy of the Tulsa Zoo, and annual birthday celebrations were staged for her.

Exhibits

Invertebrates on show include two species of tarantula and hissing cockroaches, with monarch butterflies in the butterfly gardens.
