Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo and its collection

Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo, opened in 1998, is a zoo in Nanjing, People's Republic of China.

It stands at 168 Heyan Road in Xuanwu District and covers 168.03 acres, 85 per cent of it under green cover. More than 3,000 animals of over 260 species are held.

Exhibits

The grounds split into the Xiao Hongshan, Da Hongshan and Fangniu Mountain districts, with 27 venues in all, comprising a bird area, a carnivore area, a herbivore and primate area and an amphibian and reptile hall. Stock on show covers giraffes, zebras, kangaroos, Asian elephants, black panthers, white tigers, mandrills, orangutans, flamingos and pythons. Chinese first-class protected species held include giant panda, golden snub-nosed monkey, gibbons, red-crowned crane, South China tiger and Chinese alligator.
