Munkholm Zoo, opened in 1994, is a zoo in Balle, Denmark.

Established in 1994, it keeps roughly 400 animals of 90 species and draws over 30,000 visitors a year.

History

The married couple Annelise and Benny Johansen bought the plot, then a ploughed field with a two-winged farmstead. Within a few years the property was registered as a zoo, by which point the pair had 90 animals.

Animals and collection

Animals on show include kameler, vaskebjørne, grise, Japan Makak and Berberaber.

Things to do

Things to do include Animal show, Zookeeper for a day and Serval Grill (restaurant).
