Mundo Marino and its collection

Mundo Marino, opened in 1979, is an aquarium in San Clemente del Tuyú, Argentina.

The grounds run to 40 hectares, with assorted attractions and educational shows.

History

David Juan Méndez visited the United States in 1962 and was struck by the number of aquariums there, and by the work trainers did with dolphins and sea lions. The family bought an 18-hectare plot in 1969. Early work treated sick animals found locally and released them once they had recovered.

Animals and collection

Animals on show include Delfines Nariz de Botella, Pingüinos Magallánicos, Lobos Marinos de Un Pelo Sudamericano, Elefante Marino del Sur and Tiburones Gatopardo.

Exhibits

Its exhibits include Refugio del Mar, Albergue de Pingüinos, Entre Tiburones, Bahía de Lobos and Acuario Intermareal.
