Memphis Zoo and Aquarium and its collection
Memphis Zoo, opened in 1906, is a zoo in Memphis, Tennessee, United States.
Over 3,500 animals from more than 500 species are kept on 76 acres, about 55 of them built on. Set up in April 1906, it has been a principal occupant of Overton Park for a century and more.
Animals and collection
Animals on show include Southern White Rhino, Giraffe, African Elephant, African Lions and Cheetah.
Exhibits
Teton Trek, four acres modelled on features of Yellowstone, opened in October 2009. The China zoogeographic area cost $16 million and opened in April 2003. Dragon's Lair was purpose-built for Komodo dragons.
