Lofotakvariet and its collection

Lofotakvariet is an aquarium in Kabelvåg, Norway.

It sits on the shore about 1 km west of the main settlement. An earlier aquarium, founded in 1931, ran until 1985, when the ageing building had to shut on safety grounds, and the replacement building opened in 1989. It closes through December and January and otherwise opens daily, with the longest hours from early June to the end of August.

• The building features a ramp leading all the way up to the top floor, making most areas accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.
• there is no elevator, and the floating dock as well as one side of the otter pond have limited accessibility.
