Karachi Zoo and its collection
Karachi Zoo, opened in 1878, is a zoo in کراچی, Pakistan.
Dating from 1899, it is called the largest zoo in Pakistan and the second oldest after Lahore's.
History
The municipal corporation renamed the site from Victoria Garden to Mahatma Gandhi Garden when Gandhi visited in 1934, and it was renamed again in 1947 as Karachi Zoological Gardens. A curator and a qualified vet were appointed in 1953.
Exhibits
The municipal aquarium on the site was built in 1953. In 1991-2 the city district government drew up and carried out a remodelling of the Natural History Museum.

- The main pathways cutting through the primary exhibits are wide and paved, though cobblestones or uneven earth can be found around the older, less-rehabilitated enclosures.
