Exhibits
The grounds are organised as biomes: Deserts, Flights of Fancy, Forests, Oceans and Plains, together with White River Gardens, where hellbenders are held.
Things to do
Things to do include Dolphin Poolside Adventure, Dolphin Meet & Greet, Elephant Bathing, Rhino Adventure and Sloth Adventure.
Conservation and approach
Participation extends to Species Survival Plans and other programmes run by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Research on chosen species, both wild and captive, is backed by an institute named for Polly H. Hix.

- Parking is roughly $10 if purchased ahead of time.
- The Indianapolis Zoo and White River Gardens are fully ADA accessible, featuring paved pathways, ramps, and accessible viewing areas for exhibits.
- Manual wheelchairs and electric convenience vehicles (ECVs) are available to rent on a first-come, first-served basis at the front gate.
