Etawah Safari Park and its collection

Etawah Safari Park is a safari park in Etawah Sub-District, Kanpur division.

The park comprises several safari sections along with a lion breeding centre and a visitor centre.

History

It was first proposed in 2006, with construction beginning in May 2012 to a design by the Spanish firm Art Urbà. Deer, antelope, bear and leopard safaris were added in 2015, when the name was changed. Public opening came in November 2019.

Animals and collection

Animals on show include Asiatic Lion, Gaur, Jaguar, Rhinoceros and Elephants.

Things to do

Things to do include 4D Theatre, Interpretation Centre and Xenon vehicle.

Conservation and approach

The breeding centre has twelve dens and began with eleven lions that arrived in September 2014, mostly from Gujarat zoos, and nine cubs had been born on site by December 2020. Canine distemper killed four lions and five cubs, prompting vaccination with a vaccine sourced from the United States.
