Chhatbir Zoo and its collection

Chhatbir Zoo, opened in 1977, is a zoo in Derabassi Sub-District, Kanpur division.

Built during the 1970s, it holds birds, mammals and reptiles, a few of them brought in from Guwahati Zoo in Assam. It lies about 20 km from Chandigarh on the Chandigarh-Zirakpur-Patiala road, and was renamed Mahendra Chaudhary Zoological Park in 1977 for the then governor of Punjab.
